Poem

Our friend Michelle wrote us a really nice poem and read it at our wedding. I found out today that Lauryn, another friend and bridesmaid, wrote one for us as well! I was reading it at work and I started to tear up! Who knew our friends were that talented? I DID!!! Here's the poem! Thanks again Lauryn! :-)

A Boy and a Girl

On the campus boy met girl;
Her eyes sparkled bright, his heart a whirl.
Good friends they soon became,
he made his play, but just friends they remained.

As her friend he remained by her side, faithful and true.
She was his girl, this he knew.
Through tears and laughter, his heart grew fonder;
Never from her side did he wander.

His strong shoulder was hers to cry on;
Her smile made his day brightly dawn.
Protective of her tender heart,
He gently pieced together its broken parts.

When was the first time she found her heart longing,
her eyes betraying the trust and love that was growing?
When was the first time her heart fluttered at his touch,
and she thought “I love you”, though her heart already knew as much?

Their love together soon took its own mold,
and the beginning of their love story began to unfold.
Hope sprung from deep in his heart,
as his fear began to fall apart.

He had made up his mind long ago,
This was the girl his whole life he wanted to know.
Some research and spies his inquiry discovered,
though his bank account would not soon recover.

A walk in the park
Was much more than a lark.
His heart beat fast
as for a picture he asked.

“Just one more!” he called to the stranger,
and they held the camera just a bit longer.
Down on one knee he knelt
And deep love in his heart was felt.

Taking her hand and going to his knees,
He said “Heather Kyle, will you marry me, please?”
The picture was taken and in her heart she knew
The only answer to give was “I do.”

With friends in blue and the bride in white,
The groom stood still, his smile bright.
His dreams fulfilled as she took his hand
As together they start their life in a new land.
