The Move

With Dean's parents in our rental truck, Dean and me following in my car, and my parents following in their vehicle, we headed down south to the wonderful state of Georgia. I prayed that it wouldn't be hot and sunny when we were unloading the truck, so God sent us some rain. Luckily, the rain just felt refreshing and didn't cause any troubles. We had some help from our new neighbors. Dean's friend from high school, Matt, got married in May to Lisa. They moved down to our same apartment complex a few days before us, so they came by to lend a hand. We got everything in the apartment and we started unloading boxes like crazy. The women were in the kitchen washing and putting up our new dishes while the men did the more strenuous activities that included putting together our new bed and making trash runs with all the cardboard that was flying around the apartment. The first night we moved boxes to the side and found our way to the bed to get some much needed sleep. The next day we had more unpacking and running around to do. I got my "student ID" that had FAMILY on it and we also got a parking pass for my car. We had a Publix (grocery store) run and got a lot of the essentials. Dean dropped his parents off at the MARTA station to get them headed towards the airport and home. The rest of the family had a Home Depot run and we spend the rest of the evening putting up shelves for more space and pictures to make the apartment feel more like home. Dean fixed our very first dinner in the apartment, spaghetti. Yum! Since then, my parents have left and Dean and I are still turning this apartment into a home. There are minimal boxes around, but at least our kitchen is full and our computers are up and running. We're happy and healthy and excited for every day that lays ahead of us. Tomorrow is Sunday and we're going to check out a church nearby. Wish us luck! So far, we're surviving in Atlanta. Don't worry, we still miss our friends and family.
