The Honeymoon

We took off the day after the wedding for our honeymoon which was a cruise around the Caribbean on the world's largest cruise ship, Freedom of the Seas. We left Richmond really early in the morning and flew to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a short layover in Atlanta. We went to pick up our luggage and I could only find 3 of our 4 suitcases. Turns out that one of my pieces of luggage didn't make it from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale, but Delta assured us that it would be on the next plane and would get on our cruise ship. So, Dean and I got on the bus that took us to the Port of Miami and to our cruise ship. It was HUGE!!! I won't go into every detail, but the ship was absolutely amazing. There was food anytime you wanted and entertainment all the time! When we left the port, people were waving to us and honking their horns. Some jet skiiers even came out to put on a show for us. We felt like celebrities! The first night we roamed around the ship, had a nice dinner in the dining room and tried to locate my luggage. Turns out that my luggage didn't make it to the ship and they were sending it to our first port of call, Cozumel, Mexico. The second day on the ship, we were at sea. Day 3 we stopped off the shore of Cozumel and tendered to land. We took a ship and a bus to see the Mayan ruins called Tulum. It was nice, but a long trip to get there. That night we had dinner and a broadway style show. I was exausted and frustrated and tired of wearing the same clothes. I was just about to collapse on the bed when there was a knock at the door! It was my luggage!!! YAY!!! The next day, in my own clothes, we stopped in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. We tendered to land and took a bus to Sting Ray City where we took another boat to an underwater observatory to see the sting rays that live off the coast. One of our guides scuba dived down to feed them and broght them right up to our window. After that, we went on to the Turtle Farm!! If you know Dean really well, you know he LOVES turtles! He was like a kid in a candy store! We got to see where they breed the sea turtles and we got to pick up a few of them. They were so cute! We had some time to shop around Grand Cayman as well. It was interesting since this was the first time I was exposed to people driving on the WRONG side of the road!! There was more food and entertainment on the boat that evening. Day 5 we docked in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We went up into the mountians and took a canopy tour. We went on 6 zip lines. The last one was about 300 feet above the ground and we went over rivers and trees and so many beautiful things. Our tour guides were really funny! We saw an ice show on board and they had some comedians come in. It was great! Day 6 we tendered to Labadee, Haiti. This piece of land is owned by Royal Caribbean. We went parasailing and swimming in the sea. The water was so clear and beautiful. We had a lot of fun relaxing. We got to see a show on the ship called "Love & Marriage." The had a newlywed couple, a couple married for awhile and a couple that had been married for 54 years! They played a rendition of The Newlywed Game which was HILARIOUS!! The last day we were at sea. We couldn't believe how fast the time flew by. We took it easy and did some fun things on the ship for the last time. We will really miss our stateroom, the staff that tended to us, and the cruise ship director who was absolutely hilarious as well. We had a wonderful time. We got back with little trouble. All of our luggage arrived. The Freedom of the Seas will always be a wonderful memory in our hearts and minds. :-)
