A PhD Update

Dean is closing in on graduating!!  We still do not have a date set in stone, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter!  Dean has to submit his thesis to his panel of professors.  They will go back and forth with edits and modifications until the panel thinks it is good enough for him to defend.  His adviser gave Dean the go ahead to submit his thesis to the panel after some modifications!  That is a very good sign!!

Dean is also knee deep in the job hunt!  He has submitted his resume to a ton of places all over the US.  He has had a couple phone interviews and will be traveling for some face to face interviews next month!  Here is a summary of the people interested in our Dean!
  •  NVIDIA - Santa Clara, CA - Dean has already had a phone interview and will be heading out to California at the end of February for a face to face interview!
  • ARM - Austin, TX - Dean has had a phone interview with an HR representative to talk about open positions at ARM.  He has been contacted about one of the openings and is waiting for information for a phone interview.
  • Worchester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) - Worchester, MA - Dean had a phone interview with them yesterday.
  • VCU - Richmond, VA - VCU is starting up a Computer Architecture focus.  Over 100 people applied to fill the position and Dean is on a short list of 5 people to be interview!
  • IBM - Hopewell Junction, NY or Burlington, VT - Dean will be traveling to both locations at the end of February for face to face interviews.
Dean will also be attending a conference in San Fransisco at the end of February.  He is a co-architect and lead test engineer on the project he will be presenting.

Needless to say, Dean has been busy!  We are really excited for all the opportunities he has been given and look forward to sharing some more news with our friends and family soon!
