Here's little me with Dad! Dad would always take time for me and listen to what I had to say! We always make a good team!

Dean and his dad are both laughing at the spaghetti sauce Dean spilled on my dad! It amazes me how much these two act alike!
Our Weekend Getaway!
For a month or so Dean has been listening to me complain about everyone going on vacation and how stressful work has been. He asked me if I wanted to take a weekend getaway and I said YES! We went up to Lake Lanier Resort. It's about 45 minutes north of Atlanta and boy did we have fun! Not only were we getting away, we were also celebrating Dean becoming a PhD Candidate, so lots of fun and dessert was had!
On Saturday we spent all morning at the water park, LanierWorld. It was no very crowded, so we rode all the water slides we wanted several times. Dean's favorite slide was a tube that came out into a funnel! You spin around several times and drop into an 8 foot pool of water. So cool!
After a glorious nap back at the resort, we set out for a nice hike around the island. We knew the path was not paved, but we didn't know that we would have been better off with hiking boots, a walking stick, and a machete! We had a fun time though. We got a few minor scrapes and were rained on a bit, but we survived. We also came across a canopy tour in the woods that we did not know about. There were groups zip lining above us and over the lake! After our hike we changed to go cool off in the pool, but the pool was closed because there was a HUGE storm rolling in. Instead, we sat out on our balcony and watched the storm blow the trees and the rain pour. We even saw one tree snap in two and a small pine uprooted. It was a pretty major storm!
On Sunday we went to the water park for a few trips down the slides we liked, then headed back to take part in our own canopy tour! We went on 14 zip lines (4 across the lake) and 4 sky bridges. My husband loves adventure. Every platform he would bound off leaving the tree were were waiting on swaying back and forth. During the course of the day, I started hearing some of the other people in our group refer to him as "Bamm Bamm." You know what, they're right! He's just like Bamm Bamm from The Flintstones!
I did come away with a battle wound from from canopy tour. It took me a little longer to learn how to slow down on the zip line than everyone else. One time I stopping myself by running into the platform. I have a nice bruise and bump on my right shin and my big toe is sore, but it is a good story!
Zip Lines over the Lake
After zipping through the trees for about 4 hours, we were hot and hungry! We swam in the pool for a bit and got a nice big dinner! Dinner was followed by a beautiful sunset over the lake.
Pool and Fire Pit at the Resort!
Sunset
We had a really fun and relaxing getaway. Monday morning it was back to business as usual. But we have good memories to get us through to our next getaway!
