As Heather and I have recently observed, some amazing things happen in a household when the children leave. In Heather's case, it turns out Heather was holding the place together. When she got married and ran off (*evil grin*), the Kyle household began systematically falling apart. So far, the A/C unit, TV, refrigerator, washing machine, and even Terry's truck have all bit the dust. Its been next to chaos up there.
Now, contrast that with my family. It turns out that I was not holding the family together but rather holding the family back. I leave for college, and my parents get cable TV, high-speed internet, a new boat, and even a new house on the river. All this while I'm stuck in a variety of dorms and apartments akin to closets. How unfair is that?
What happened to your home when you left?
